1941 - 2005

Ph.D. University of Minnesota, 1967

Stan was internationally recognized for research on the intestinal parasite Giardia, and for electron microscopy expertise. His collaborations triggered seminal contributions in microbiology, leukocyte and platelet biology. Stan loved interacting with medical students.

He wad involved in electron microscopy, immunocytochemistry, giardiasis, interaction of intestinal microbes with the intestinal mucosa, and high resolution imaging of cell surfaces (adhesion molecules) using cyrofixation and cyroSEM.

ELECTRON MICROSCOPY

Many of the electron micrographs were collected for publication in the Color Atlas of Histology by Stanley L. Erlandsen and Jean E. Magney (Moseby-Year Book, Inc., 1992).
